German Universities
Higher education institutions in Germany are quite diverse. You will mostly be able to find two types: Universities and Universities of Applied Sciences. The difference between them lies in the focus. While Universities offer a mix between theory and practice through research, Universities of Applied Science usually aim at the practical side of a subject and are more focused on the job market.
The funding and the tuition fees for universities also differs, although the majority is state-funded, there are some funded by private organizations or even religious institutions. With all this variety, there are around 380 universities in Germany offering more than 20,000 study programs for German and international students.
