Blocked Account partners explained

We combined the best providers to offer you the best experience!

When opening your Blocked Account you need to ensure it is compliant with the German Residence Act (Aufenthaltsgesetz), so the Blocked Account has to be in your name and with a bank that is allowed to perform its banking services in Germany.

To make an international payment to your Blocked Account, you can either transfer the funds by yourself or use an international payment service provider. We have partnered with Cohort Go to offer you transfers in many local currencies with great exchange rates and no fees.

Last but not least, Expatrio relies on the banking license and technological infrastructure of AION Bank to enable a fast and scalable process of payment operations.

Cohort Go | Our educational payment service

Cohort Go is an international payment service provider headquartered in Australia. The company was founded to help international students to pay their tuition fees or education related payments. Cohort Go has already served more than 100,000 students from 180 countries in more than 60 different currencies. Cohort Go enables students to pay in their local currency and delivers funds at low foreign exchange rates and no fees. With Cohort Go as our educational payment partner, you are able to transfer money to your Blocked Account in a faster and cheaper way, compared to other alternatives - and the best is: it is fully integrated in the Expatrio User portal.
