A city of parks, art, and fairy tales
Located in Hesse, Kassel is most famous for the UNESCO-protected Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe. It's also known for Documenta, one of Germany's premier annual art festivals, for its elegant Orangerie Palace, and for the establishment of the first German astronomic observatory in 1558. The city was also the home of the Brothers Grimm, authors of some of the world's most popular fairy tales.

The University of Kassel (UK) is home to 25,000 students, and courses range widely, from natural sciences, fine arts and architecture to urban planning. International students are welcome, although most will need to take summer German courses.
The university adopts a global perspective, so students from abroad can tailor research agendas to their interests. Kassel is also well-connected to Berlin, Munich, and the Rhine region, while students can benefit from the city's green spaces, cultural attractions and riverside meadows. The Hesse region is a hub for scientific research and development, with chemical companies like K+S, transportation group NVV, and aviation manufacturers like Airbus all present in or near Kassel.
