Osnabruck

A university city with a restored Old Town center

Osnabrück (also spelt Osnabruck or Osnabrueck) is in the state of Lower Saxony in the north-west of Germany. It is one of the largest cities in the state and it dates back to 780. Osnabrück features excellent reconstructions of medieval architecture after sustaining damage during World War II. 

There are two universities in the city, Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences and Osnabrück University. Each school has around 14,000 students, making up a large portion of the city's population of 171,200. There are 24,500 international residents in Osnabrück including many international students. Out of a total of 95,800 jobs, around 8,000 are held by foreign residents.

Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences has degree courses in a range of engineering, business, and health subjects. On-campus entertainment includes regular performances at the Institute of Music and the Institute for Theater Pedagogy. At Osnabrück University, there are many English-language courses including Language and Literature, Cultural Studies and Social Sciences, and Business Administration and Economics.

Active industries in Osnabrück include automobile, paper, and steel. Hellmann Worldwide Logistics has its headquarters in the city and offers freight and logistics services. The Center for Environment and Technology attracts companies with connections to environmental protection and resource conservation as well as those that are IT or technology-related.
