The town of Oestrich-Winkel is built on the banks of the Rhine River in Hesse, Central Germany. It is also located in the Rheingau wine region and is home to numerous vineyards producing excellent Riesling. Small but vibrant, the town hosts year-round events including a music festival, wine festival, funfair and Christmas market. The town is home to a private European Business School campus.
Oestrich-Winkel has a population of 12,000, with around 2,000 students attending one private university. The town was officially founded in 1972 when the historic settlements of Oestrich, Winkel and Mittelheim were merged. Hattenheim was later added to the town's boundary.
The town is home to one of Germany's two European Business School (EBS) campuses, the other campus is in nearby Wiesbaden. This small campus is located in a green space two kilometers from the center of Oestrich-Winkel, close to Hattenheim. Students enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the Rheingau wine region and views of the Rhine river itself. The university has close ties with numerous European businesses thanks to a close-knit alumni network.
Students at EBS benefit from the university's dedicated careers service, which uses its network to help match up graduates with suitable regional employment. Students also benefit from personal coaching which is instrumental in finding employment after graduation. Significant employers in the town include the many vineyards which offer seasonal work to students.
