A symbol of German unity and a beautiful Rhineland city

Founded under the Roman Empire, Koblenz lies at the meeting point of the Rhine and Mosel Rivers, where visitors can find "German Corner" - a monument to the unification of modern Germany. Fought over many times, Koblenz is famous for Ehrenbreitstein Fortress, it's thriving wine traders, and for once being the heart of independent Trier.

Koblenz is a gorgeous city, located at the head of the Rhine Valley, in the center of a busy wine-growing region. It's home to around 114,000 people, including 15,000 students, and is a treasure trove of historical delights.

Studying and Working in Koblenz

Academic life in Koblenz involves two universities: Koblenz University of Applied Sciences (HK), and a local branch of the University of Koblenz and Landau (UKL). UKL focuses on education, environmental studies, and cultural studies, and also offers computer science degrees. While HK specializes in engineering, architecture, and business administration.

Both universities cater for international students, but UKL is more cosmopolitan. In all cases, some German proficiency will be required, although this is less important for international Master's programs in toxicology, mathematics, chemistry, or data science.

Graduates from either school have a range of options when it comes to career planning. The two schools share an Entrepreneurial Office, which assists start-ups, while the region offers opportunities in food and drink, tourism, engineering, automotive design, transport, and logistics - with an Amazon hub located nearby.
