Two locations in beautiful hills with a successful university

Albstadt and Sigmaringen are a neighboring city and town in the state of Baden-Württemberg in the south of Germany. They are located in the Swabian Alb mountain range. Albstadt is the largest city in the district of Zollernalbkreis, and Sigmaringen is famous for its 11th-century castle, Schloss Sigmaringen.

Museums and galleries

The Albstadt has the largest population of the two with around 45,900, while Sigmaringen has a population of around 17,000. The two locations share a university with a total of 3,500 students, with approximately 60% of the students studying at the Albstadt campus and 40% at the Sigmaringen campus. Albstadt has nine museums, galleries, and other places of historical interest, while Sigmaringen has six.

Studying and Working in Albstadt & Sigmaringen

Albstadt-Sigmaringen University offers bachelor degree courses in the fields of technology, economics, engineering, and management. There are also master's courses in biomedical sciences, digital forensics, and facility and process design, among others. The university takes part in extensive research in subjects such as IT security and autonomous robots.

As a remnant of the historic textile industry, one of the world's biggest manufacturers of industrial sewing needles remains in Albstadt. Other industries in the area include innovative textile companies, knitwear, weighing and security systems. The Sigmaringen Innovation and Technology Centre encourages a link between the university and industry and assists young start-ups.
