Course description
The Master in Finance program offers a unique interdisciplinary education in mathematical finance to students worldwide. Taught in English, the curriculum includes courses in mathematics, applied mathematics, financial economics, and insurance. University degree in a degree program with only English as the language of instruction 5.5 points or better in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS, IELTS Academic (IELTS online), IELTS Indicator with simultaneous indication of the score and CEFR level, the higher language proficiency level stated will be recognized First Certificate in English (FCE), Certificate in English Language Skills (CELS) Vantage or Business English Certificate (BEC) Vantage Cambridge exam English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) (Cambridge University) 400 (listening), 385 (reading), 160 (speaking) and 150 (writing) points or better in the Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC) 72 points or better in the Test of English as a Foreign Language internet-based (TOEFL iBT or TOEFL iBT home edition) Level II at UNIcert® PTE Academic, with a score of 59 or better GER B 2 level or higher shown on the university entrance qualification. A language proficiency level that is partially at GER B 2 level and lower will not be recognized a university entrance qualification with proof of language acquisition in the last 2 years with at least 5 points each. Proof of language skills required for the respective course of study must be provided at the time of enrollment at the latest. Exception: For the Master Cognitive Systems, the required language skills must already be available at the time of application. Enrollment without the required language certificate is not possible.
Qualification Requirements
Applicants to this program must have earned or be in the process of earning a bachelor's degree (or an equivalent thereof) in mathematics or in another quantitative and mathematically-orientated discipline from a recognized university. Applicants with a degree in actuarial science, computer science, engineering, or physics are usually eligible. A degree in economics can be sufficient provided that you have successfully taken a significant number of courses in mathematics and statistics. A degree in business, commerce or accounting is usually not sufficient for admission because typical programs in these fields do not contain the amount of training in mathematics and statistics that is required for the MSc Finance. Please note that mathematics courses outside university (e.g. secondary school) cannot be considered as a surrogate for missing qualifications at the Bachelor's level.

Bachelor's degree diploma (certificate) with final grade as well as overview of subjects and grades /transcript of records with credit points/Diploma Supplement (if available) If you have not yet completed your higher education degree: overview of subjects and grades/transcript of records issued by the higher education institution with the total credit points earned up to the application deadline and an indication of the provisional average grade. Proof of English language proficiency Motivation letter in English - maximum two pages Professional and academic curriculum vitae in tabular form, supported by certificates and other documents In the case of a higher education degree from China, India or Vietnam: APS certificate or APS confirmation In the case of a foreign higher education degree: grading scale of the degree programme with indication of the lowest passing grade and maximum grade for the degree, to be shown on the bachelor's degree diploma/bachelor's degree certificate or on an official document of the higher education institution. If proof and documents to be submitted are not written in German or English, additionally an official translation into German or English is required For applicants who do not come from an EU country or the European Economic Area and have a German higher education entrance qualification (“Abitur”): proof of higher education entrance qualification
