Course description
The Master's program in Economic Policy and Quantitative Methods tackles pressing economic and socio-political issues. These include labor markets, inequality, human behavior, economic growth, and environmental and climate concerns. You'll explore economic policy tools used in these areas. Our program covers a wide range of economic fields. You'll delve into labor, health, education, and gender economics. You'll also study climate, environmental, and urban economics, as well as behavioral and entrepreneurial economics, and growth and distribution. This program equips you with the expertise and skills needed for economic analysis of policy instruments, crucial for evidence-based policymaking. We emphasize both theoretical economics and quantitative empirical analysis methods. These methods apply to economic policy issues at local, regional, national, and international levels. Most courses include practical units where you'll learn to use econometric and statistical software like Stata, R, Matlab, Dynare, and Julia. You'll perform empirical analyses and apply numerical methods. You'll work with real data sets, such as the Socio-Economic Panel (SOEP), and conduct independent analyses. Mastering these tools will enable you to write master's theses with real quantitative research results. Qualification Requirements
The prerequisite for studying in a Master's program is generally a first professional qualification degree, e.g. a Bachelor's degree. Students should have acquired this first degree in Economics or in a related discipline. This degree must fulfill the following prerequisites: standard period of study of at least 6 semesters (comprising at least 180 credit points) at least 60 credit points in economics (including at least 18 credit points in statistics, econometrics and mathematics).
