Course description
The master's program equips students with a deep understanding of landscape ecology and both national and international nature conservation. They gain comprehensive knowledge of the subject “Landscape Ecology and Nature Conservation,” mastering its content and methods. This program emphasizes independent problem-solving for complex research tasks, with a strong research orientation and a transdisciplinary approach. A unique aspect of this program is its integration of scientific training with humanities, law, and economics. Students explore landscape economics, human geography, environmental law, and environmental ethics. In the biology and landscape ecology focus, students learn species identification, essential for landscape ecological analyses and ecosystem assessments. This understanding is enhanced through domestic and international excursions. The landscape economics focus covers theoretical approaches like cost-benefit analysis and standard price approach, examining the monetary valuation of natural assets. Environmental ethics involves critically analyzing and justifying the values, goals, and guidelines of nature and environmental protection.
