Teaching — Research — Student Activities: The Bielefeld British and American Studies Department Has It All! Welcome to the Bielefeld British and American Studies department, a vibrant, international English-speaking hub in the heart of East-Westphalia. We offer a comprehensive range of courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Our academic pursuits span across linguistics, literature, cultural studies, language teaching, and teacher education. Our teaching and research extend beyond Britain and North America (USA and Canada) to include the languages, literatures, and cultures of English-speaking regions such as Africa, Australia, the Caribbean, India, Ireland, and New Zealand. We are dedicated to using English in every context, ensuring an immersive learning experience. Our classes and research cover a wide array of topics. You can delve into narratology, explore the cultural studies of music, or examine postmodernism in black America. We also offer courses in film studies, gender studies, morphology, childhood studies, and critical game studies. For those interested in practical applications, we provide training in Teaching of English as a Foreign Language (TFL), and investigate themes like migration and conflict, and creative writing.
