Course description
Microsystems, MEMS, or micromachines – these terms all describe a thrilling and evolving engineering field. This discipline merges knowledge from electrical and mechanical engineering, materials science, life sciences, and more. At our Department of Microsystems Engineering (IMTEK), we boast 22 professors and around 300 research and technical staff, making us one of the largest academic institutions globally in this area. Our commitment lies in interdisciplinary high-tech research with a strong emphasis on practical applications. In your first year, you will take five mandatory courses: Micro-electronics, Micro-mechanics, Microsystems Technologies and Processes, Microsystems Design Lab I, and Signal Processing. Additionally, you will select five out of eight compulsory elective courses. This curriculum is designed to provide a comprehensive foundation in the field, ensuring you gain both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience.
