Course description

The master's degree program 'Energy and Environmental Management - Industrial Countries' equips students with the essential knowledge and skills to shape the future energy system. Addressing the critical challenge of man-made climate change, the program emphasizes the need to transition the global energy supply to 100% renewable sources in the coming decades. This shift is crucial to optimizing energy use and supply. Led by Professor Pao-Yu Oei and Junior Professor Frauke Wiese, the Department of Energy and Environmental Management (EUM) continues the legacy of Prof. Dr. Olav Hohmeyer, who transitioned to a senior professorship in March 2021. The EUM Master program boasts a dedicated team of 30 members, including professors, post-docs, PhD students, and student assistants. Together, they engage in interdisciplinary research projects focused on energy transition both in Germany and worldwide. The program's teaching and research efforts are centered on transforming fossil energy systems into 100% renewable energy systems. This transformation aims to limit the global average temperature increase to a maximum of 1.5°C by 2050.
