Life Science Informatics
Subjects: Life Science;Informatics
M.Sc. | Master of Science
Course description
Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) technology generates vast amounts of data rapidly. Analyzing and understanding the human genome, epigenome, and transcriptome is increasingly challenging. It's crucial to create a robust interface between biologists, chemists, physicians, and pharmacists. Research in life sciences has outgrown the lab. The data from decoding genetic material of humans, animals, or plants must be processed and correlated to be useful. This is the role of life science informatics. In the study of subjects like the human genome, epigenome, and transcriptome, the need for collaboration is paramount. Programs in life sciences now demand a seamless integration of expertise from various fields. The data produced by NGS technology is immense and requires sophisticated processing to extract meaningful insights. Life science informatics bridges the gap, ensuring that the information is not only accessible but also actionable. By fostering a collaborative environment, we can better tackle the complexities of genetic data. This approach ensures that the insights gained are comprehensive and beneficial across multiple disciplines. The goal is to make the vast amounts of data generated by NGS technology usable and impactful, driving forward our understanding of life at a molecular level.
