Course description

Milk stands as a cornerstone in the diet of many Western countries. In Germany, the milk processing industry alone generates over 22 billion euros annually. To support this, more than four million dairy cows are maintained across the nation. At the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel (CAU), the single-subject master's program in Dairy Science offers a unique opportunity in Germany to gain specialized knowledge along the entire milk value chain, from animal husbandry to consumer products. Understanding how milk is produced, processed, and marketed is a complex science. At Kiel University, you will explore this field across various disciplines and in line with international standards. In your first year, you will deepen your foundational knowledge in agricultural milk production, focusing on the quality and processing of milk products. Concurrently, you will enhance your understanding of scientific methods and approaches. In the second year, you will have the chance to tailor your studies to your specific interests. This program is designed to provide a comprehensive education in Dairy Science, ensuring you are well-prepared for a career in this vital industry.
