Course description
Designing and developing intelligent software systems and interfaces is crucial in today's world, where mobile devices and ubiquitous technologies are everywhere. In the English-language Human-Computer Interaction Master of Science program, students dive deep into both theoretical and practical aspects of current Computer Science research, focusing on interface design and interactive system development. This advanced HCI program demands a strong foundation in computing-related subjects. It’s not just about technical skills; it also offers a chance to engage in interdisciplinary projects. Students can attend courses from other study programs like Media Art and Design, Product Design, Media Architecture, and Media Management. Candidates must provide proof of good English language skills of level B2. Level B2 of the „Common European Framework of Reference for Languages“ (CEFR) can be proved by submitting: • certification of a Bachelor’s degree in a native English-speaking country (US, CAN, UK, NZ, AUS, ...). If this is not possible, please submit one of the language certificates listed below. This should not be more than 2 years old (comparable certification will be assessed on a case-by-case basis).
Qualification Requirements
Admission requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science or a related technical-scientific field with a strong focus on computer science and HCI. If the converted credit-weighted average grade of your Bachelor's degree is at least 2.0 in the German system, your chances of acceptance are very good. Applications have to include a motivation letter of 2 to 4 pages length, explaining the specific motivation for doing an HCI degree, and an overview of educational or work experience, in particular regarding projects, internships, extracurricular activities or research activity with relevance for HCI. Wherever possible, these activities should be documented.
