Course description
Our M.A. programme, "Human Geography: Globalisation, Media, and Culture," focuses on the evolving power dynamics between space, society, and culture in today's late post-modern globalisation era. We delve into how these relationships are conveyed through media, the socio-cultural challenges they present, and the political solutions to address them. In an age where digital technologies infiltrate every aspect of life, media-sensitive cultural geography becomes crucial. Communication tools are becoming smaller and more mobile, while mapping and geo-coded positioning are surging. This shift fosters a renewed interest in space, regions, and places, leading to a new geographical awareness. Our programme's geographical media content is dedicated to examining these newly arranged global geographies. A distinctive feature of our Master of Arts programme is the active use of relevant media techniques. Students enhance their interdisciplinary academic background from their Bachelor studies with innovative academic skills. Our modules include a variety of applied learning methods, such as producing short films, podcasts, and blogs. The research workshop equips you with a solid foundation in scientific theory-based research and comprehensive empirical fieldwork training. This approach ensures you gain both theoretical knowledge and practical experience, preparing you to tackle the complexities of our globalised world.
