Course description
The B.A. program in General Linguistics kicks off at the start of the Winter Semester and spans six semesters, or three years. This period includes the B.A. Thesis and final exams. In the first four semesters, known as the elementary studies, students dive into the basics of General and Theoretical Linguistics. They must take courses in syntax, semantics, phonetics/phonology, and pragmatics. Additionally, they study mathematical foundations and programming. The main studies occur in the fifth and sixth semesters. Here, students engage in core seminars and projects focused on 'Variation, Evolution & Change,' 'Language & Cognition,' and 'Language Use.' The sixth semester also includes the B.A. Thesis. This structured approach ensures a comprehensive understanding of linguistics, preparing students for both academic and professional success.
