M.Eng. | Master of Engineering
Course description
Climate change poses a grave threat to humanity, impacting not just Europe but the entire globe. The primary culprit is the greenhouse gases we emit, mainly from burning fossil fuels like oil, coal, and gas to meet our energy demands. However, sustainable alternatives exist. First, we must focus on energy efficiency: achieving the same results with minimal energy use. Next, we should harness renewable energies such as wind power, hydropower, solar energy, and bioenergy. These sources offer largely emission-free and resource-conserving energy. To ensure energy reaches the right place at the right time, we need smart energy management and the right technical systems for transport, distribution, and, if necessary, energy conversion and storage. This global shift from fossil fuels to sustainable energy systems demands not only political commitment, as outlined in national and international climate targets, but also a workforce of highly qualified experts. With enough skilled professionals, we can achieve this global energy transition.
