Bamberg

A medieval gem, buzzing with Franconia's contemporary prosperity

Located in Upper Franconia, Bamberg has an impressive history. Built around seven hills (hence the city's nickname "the Franconian Rome"), Bamberg's Old Town is filled with churches and picturesque squares, feeling like little has changed since the 1200s. But much has changed, including the development of brewing, textile production and electronic engineering.
