More about the Film Academy

Tucked away in the modest but prosperous city of Ludwisgburg, the Film Academy is one of German's most successful specialist universities. Devoted to training professionals in film and television production, the academy's courses span a wide range of topics such as screenplay writing, directing documentaries, sound design, cinematography, and animation.

Completely tailored to international students, the Filmakademie does not make German language skills a primary requirement. Instead, it focuses on encouraging creative cross-border collaborations. Ongoing projects like the Hollywood Workshop with UCLA give a taste of high-level film production, while 25% of students engage in international exchanges. The school itself includes the specialist Animationsinstitut as well as an acclaimed International Screen Acting Workshop. It fosters close ties with the film-making profession, providing a reliable route into media careers.
