True to the principles of liberal arts education, Bard College Berlin offers interdisciplinary programs in the humanities and social sciences, with a strong focus on individual growth and the development of essential skills in writing and thinking. Students engage in an integrated inquiry into the intellectual and cultural history of the contemporary world before choosing to specialize in an area of the humanities or social sciences (economics, politics, art, or literature). Qualifying students can earn both an American and a German BA degree, which are accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and ACQUIN, respectively.
Bard College Berlin is a member of the Open Society University Network, which integrates learning across geographic and demographic boundaries and promotes civic engagement on behalf of open societies. Students can also study abroad at partner universities like Sciences Po, Leiden University College, University College Utrecht, Amsterdam University College, Bard Network Schools, and more.
The college supports internship opportunities and practical training, and has many established connections with the intellectual and cultural life of Berlin.
