Subjects: Meteorology and Climate Physics,Science,Climate Physics,Science
M.Sc. | Master of Science
Course description
The Master program in Meteorology builds on the foundational scientific knowledge gained in the Bachelor program, focusing on research-oriented learning. Students delve deeper into Theoretical Meteorology, Numerical Weather Prediction, Climatology, Remote Sensing, Data Analysis, Atmospheric Chemistry, and Aerosols. They also explore Applied Meteorology in greater detail. A key component of the program is a hands-on practical course. This course equips students with modern atmospheric measurement techniques, both in the lab and in the field. Completing a Master thesis demonstrates their ability to apply scientific methods and knowledge to solve complex research problems independently. Graduates also gain specialized skills in an elective from a broad selection of natural sciences. They learn to use theoretical meteorology concepts to address specific meteorological or climatological issues. With their acquired knowledge, they can classify facts and thematic areas competently. They possess strong programming skills, experience with numerical models, and proficiency in modern measurement techniques. By applying statistical methods to observational data, they can identify relationships, estimate uncertainties, formulate hypotheses, and derive and validate predictions. This program ensures that graduates are well-prepared to tackle real-world meteorological challenges with confidence and expertise.
