Founded as a reform university in 1967, Ulm is one of the youngest universities in south Germany. It is home to approximately 10,000 students, and there are four faculties offering a total of 60 study programs.

The main campus buildings, the adjoining university hospitals, and a number of public and commercial research and development centers are collectively referred to as Science Park.
