Course description

Bioinformatics stands as a pivotal technology in the 21st century. The future of systems biology, systems medicine, and systems genetics—such as personalized medicine, innovative drug development, and high-quality food supply through molecular genetic analysis—relies heavily on bioinformatics. This field enables efficient analysis of data from modern procedures and models complex biological systems to predict the effectiveness of new medications. The University of Potsdam offers an English-language master's degree program in Bioinformatics. This program equips students with essential knowledge and skills. It targets those with a bachelor's degree in life sciences, computer science, mathematics, or physics. A strong foundation in natural sciences or computer science is beneficial for mastering the interdisciplinary nature of biotechnology. The curriculum covers a range of study subjects, ensuring students gain a comprehensive understanding of bioinformatics. This approach prepares them to contribute effectively to advancements in medicine, pharmaceuticals, and agriculture. The program fosters an inclusive and supportive learning environment, encouraging students to achieve their full potential in this critical field.
