Course description
The Master’s degree in International Organisations and Crisis Management stands out as the sole program in Germany and one of the few in Europe that delves into three critical areas. First, you will explore the goals, tasks, structures, cultures, and norms of international governmental and non-governmental organisations. This foundational knowledge is essential for understanding how these entities operate on a global scale. Second, the program covers the possibilities and limits of international crisis management. This includes resolving violent conflicts and managing issues like pandemics, migration flows, natural disasters, and financial crises. You will gain insights into the complexities and challenges of governing such crises. Third, the course examines whether and how international organisations, in collaboration with states and other actors, can overcome these crises. It addresses the problems of effectiveness and legitimacy that may arise and how these challenges can sometimes lead to crises within the organisations themselves. This program is designed to provide you with a comprehensive understanding of the intricate dynamics at play in international crisis management and the role of international organisations in addressing global challenges.
