Course description

The Master's program in Jewish Theology delves deeply into the Jewish religion, offering a comprehensive understanding of its complex theological, philosophical, and ethical dimensions. This course equips you to navigate intricate issues within the Jewish tradition and contemporary scientific and social debates. Throughout your studies, you will gain extensive knowledge of ancient and medieval Jewish religious and philosophical history, as well as the significant transformations since the mid-16th century. A key focus is on rabbinic Judaism of antiquity and the early Middle Ages, which has profoundly influenced Judaism through the ages to the present day. You will engage in the analysis, interpretation, and historical classification of traditional literature from the Talmudic era, including the Mishnah, Talmudim, and Midrashim, as well as later works by the Rishonim and Acharonim, all in their original languages.
