The Institute for Medical Information Processing, Biometry, and Epidemiology, established in 1974, is structured into five distinct departments: biometry and informatics, public health and health care research, genetic epidemiology, cardiovascular epidemiology, and epidemiology. Each department is home to various professorships and research groups, all dedicated to their specialized fields. A team of 120 employees works diligently to process and analyze medical data. The institute boasts extensive expertise in designing, randomizing, and evaluating clinical trials and other medical research projects. This wealth of experience ensures that the institute remains at the forefront of medical research and data analysis.

To be eligible for the master’s program, you need to submit proof that your proficiency in English equals at least a B2 level, as defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), or proof of equivalent proficiency in English. In order to establish that you meet this requirement, the proof must either explicitly state that your English proficiency is equal to at least a B2 CEFR level, or should at least be verifiable (such as for internationally recognized language tests). Examples of valid or non-valid language proof are listed in the table below.
Qualification Requirements
1. Applicants require a completed university degree (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in a health-related discipline such as: Health science Medicine Pharmacy Natural sciences Nutritional science Psychology Social sciences Statistics Sports science Physical therapy Economics or Business administration Law Communication science ...or another health science-related discipline. 2. Good knowledge of mathematics and statistics 3. Advanced competency in English 4. Passed written and oral entry exam (in English) For international applicants, who did not receive their first degree from a German university, the process of applying consists of two separate parts. You need to 1) apply to the MSc Epidemiology Programme, as described above, and 2) additionally to the International Office of the Ludwig-Maximilians-University (LMU) in order to get the letter of admission entitling to study at the LMU. Please submit your application by 15 July via their Application Portal lmu.gomovein.com, open between 15 May and 15 July each year.
