Founded in 1972, but with a history that dates back to 1946, Paderborn University has more than 20,000 students, of those more than 1,600 being foreigners from all around the world. Its 255 professors teach in 63 different degree programs from Bachelors to Masters level in the five faculties of the University.

Focused in developing workers able to strive in the information society, Paderborn University offers hard and soft sciences through its five faculties, which cover a broad range of courses of study in the arts and humanities, business studies, natural sciences, and engineering. Apart from the Bachelor and Master levels of education, teacher education programs also play an important role in Paderborn. Moreover, the university conducts research in four areas emphasizing interdisciplinary subjects and creating complex collaborations of disciplines to create unique and innovative projects.

With strong international presence and incentive to different cultural practices, Paderborn University encourages its students to take part in its many activities, such as orchestra, drama group or one of the more than 70 sports activities held on campus.
