All you need to know about DeGiS scholarship and the scholars

Less than half a year ago we shared with you the news that Expatrio became one of the founding partners of DeGiS - Deutsche Gesellschaft internationaler Studierender. Now we have even bigger news, as DeGiS has announced the official list of the scholars who will receive financial support and mentorship from DeGiS experts.

DeGiS Scholars

The profiles of DeGiS scholars are very diverse. DeGiS managed to attract the students from all corners of the world and chose five people with the most outstanding achievements and credentials. We are glad to share with you their names and talk a bit more about future plans and what is waiting for the scholars.

First, let us introduce those five scholarship holders who managed to impress our committee and who will be further on helping DeGiS to connect international students in Germany.

Pavithra Pandiaraj is coming from India and is studying for a Master’s degree in Financial Management at Coburg University of Applied Sciences and Arts. Pavithra also holds an MBA degree in International Business from the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (one of the Top Business Schools in India).

Danial Abdollahi is coming from Iran and is studying for a Master’s degree in Digital Engineering at Otto von Guericke University of Magdeburg. Danial is also a member of the AIESEC committee in Iran, the organization that focuses on empowering young people to make a progressive social impact and also provides them with leadership development and exchange global experiences.

Danial told us: “Thank you very much for providing this opportunity to me! I am honored to take this scholarship. Let's build up the greatest student association in Germany. I am looking forward to meeting the team soon!".

Burcu Yesil is a Turkish student who is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Integrated Natural Resources Management at Humboldt-Universität. Burcu already holds a Master’s degree in Global Environment, Politics and Society from Edinburgh University. Burcu shared her thoughts: "Thank you! I am delighted to receive this great news. Thanks again and best wishes".

What's Next?

The next step of the DeGiS scholarship program will be to invite the scholars for a weekend to Berlin, introducing them to each other and to DeGiS, and presenting further plans such as the DeGiS Summit, for example.

Apart from that, DeGiS announced that they will be soon looking for the second batch of scholars, so if you are interested to join Pavithra, Chamath, João, Danial, and Burcu and become a part of the biggest community of international students in Germany, you can apply for the second batch of DeGiS scholarship!
